Recently quite a lot of people concern themselves with Flash based fur generation. Inspired by a few examples (like this or that one) I decided to follow a different approach. Most implementations I´ve seen lately worked within 2D space, so I thought it might be exciting to bring it all into 3D space.
Easier said than done, ´cause setting up, calculate and handle some fur like shapes in 3D without killing the Flash Player turned out kinda elusive with Flash. But finally, spending half a day tweaking my routines I managed to get the whole thing running mostly performant (~18fps).
Well, this is my share to that fur generation theme:
Anyway, I´m not sure if this example is a wee bit too spiky for being fuzzy, but never mind, here are the sources so you can prepare your own little fur patterns.

wow!
a bit weird but ratehr impressive. especially when you know how slow flash can be when it comes to 3D :)
congrats !
thx nicolas,
right now, it´s still to slow to use it for projects or the like, but let´s see if I can optimize it a bit more… ;)
